Description
Singing Lungs is what you get when a board game publisher, a touring punk rock veteran, and a zookeeper are united by their love of music and a history of growing up in the Michigan DIY music scene. Together they are crafting their own brand of 90’s influenced pop-punk with nods to the alternative/grunge scene of their youth.
After playing shows with Mustard Plug, Laura Stevenson, Devon Kay and the Solutions, Indie legend J. Robbins, and a spot opening for a Bernie Sanders rally in Michigan and around the Midwest, the band released their EP, ‘Mutter’ on Michigan emo label Count Your Lucky Stars Records.
They also have an LP called ‘Groan’.
The new (second) album ‘Coming Around’ is recorded and being pressed now, scheduled for release in early 2023. Recorded by Mustard Plug bassist and Jeff Rosenstock collaborator, Rick Johnson and mastered by Justin Perkins (Bash & Pop, Screeching Weasel, Riverdales, etc) at Mystery Room Mastering the album offers a fuller sound and more hooks than should be allowed on one record.
The artwork was designed by former Lookout! Records owner, Christopher Appelgren.
‘Coming Around’ is catchy as hell, old school style pop-punk straight from the heart and is a split release from Count Your Lucky Stars (US), Sell The Heart Records (US), Engineer Records (UK/Europe), and Waterslide Records (Japan).

“Fans of Lagwagon, Lemonheads, and old-school Green Day will find a lot to like here- gruff but singy vocals, distorted guitars that crunch along to a driving rhythm section. Think 90s punk rock, when punk rock was still underground but priming to break through.” – Punk Rock Theory
“For fans of Smoking Popes, Samiam, Superchunk, Lemonheads and Gin Blossoms. While that may be true, I hear more of an ‘80s Minneapolis sound. Specifically songs and guitar tones heavily influenced by The Replacements and Hüsker Dü. There are also clearly elements of grunge and pop punk.” – Punknews.org
