Description
A World Like That – Live at B-Side captures a unique moment in time, recorded in the summer of 2021, just as live music was returning to Memphis.
We were celebrating the release of my fifth studio album, The Rhythm of the City, six months after its actual release.
The album features my extended, 7-piece, all-star Memphis band and horn section, performing for the first time under the new name we gave ourselves: John Paul Keith and The Rhythm of the City.
We didn’t really set out to make a live record, but once we heard the tracks, we decided to share it with the world. We named the album after my song “A World Like That”, which I had written years earlier but never recorded. I included the song after the legendary Memphis soul great Don Bryant released his version as a single in February 2021. World events have only seemed to make the lyrics more relevant to me, and so we decided to feature it on this live album.
